Suites Malecon Hotel in downtown Cancun is a resort-style hotel with high towers, infinity pool and hot tub. I was pleased to find that the complex had BBQ facilities, and sun terraces with beds and loungers. Additionally, the hotel offered a gym and a business center. The panoramic views of Cancun city and Nichupté Lagoon, the gulf, hotel zone, and even a ghost pirate ship were breathtaking. However, if you’re a light sleeper, it’s recommended to book a room on the city view side as the music from the nearby nightclubs can be heard on the ocean side until 5 am, and the wind can be loud against the building.

To secure my room, I brought $100 USD as a deposit, as only cash was accepted. Each floor had an all-in-one free washer and dryer for guests to use. The property was located near Américas Shopping Mall, which had a variety of different restaurants to explore. However, the hotel was difficult to find as there were no clear indications. Fortunately, I discovered Luna Rossa, an exceptional restaurant in the neighborhood that offers amazing vegetarian pizza and pasta dishes.

The service at Suites Malecon Cancun was phenomenal, and the staff was very kind and supportive. However, the hotel was not ideal for digital nomads as the WiFi was painfully slow, and the lobby was the best place to work. Nevertheless, the rooms were clean with an excellent layout, and the king bed was very comfortable with clean new linens. The well-equipped kitchen included a fridge, microwave, and even a bed tray. The bathroom was small but had good water pressure and clean, good quality towels.
