I just got back to the Upper West Side from the Blue Note near Washington Square, irking for jazz. Cleopatra’s Needle was the place to be. This restaurant/bar is not to be confused with the ancient Egyptian obelisk in Central Park West. I doubt if you can get a strong drink at that location. I really liked the older bartender and the 50’s and 60’s era hardbop. The food is Mediteranean, moderately priced and delicious. As far as going here for the music, it’s worth it.
